In an era where digital media is reshaping the journalistic landscape, Freedom Gate brought together aspiring and seasoned journalists for an intensive two-day workshop, "Untangle Your Media Potential," held on August 3-4, 2024, at Four Points by Sheraton, Lahore. This transformative training equipped media professionals with essential digital skills, empowering them to create, manage, and monetize impactful social media content while mastering modern storytelling techniques.
The workshop commenced with an introduction by Birgit Lamm, Country Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, followed by an engaging participant introduction session led by Mr. Muhammad Anwar. The event’s expert moderator, Shiraz Hasnat, guided attendees through a series of hands-on training sessions consisting of digital content creation, the strategic use of hashtags, and the art of designing engaging thumbnails.
A critical segment on digital marketing provided participants with insights into audience engagement strategies, while a session by Ahmed Ali delved into the role of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in increasing content visibility. The day concluded with discussions on leveraging AI tools to enhance digital content production, followed by an open forum for experience sharing.
The second day of the workshop began with a recap and discussion, setting the stage for more advanced learning. Participants explored strategies for pitching stories to international media, followed by a practical session on mobile journalism, led by Sohaib Bajwa of HUM TV, where they learned shooting and editing techniques for creating high-quality digital content.
The workshop further covered monetization strategies, helping journalists understand revenue generation opportunities across social media platforms. Additionally, Shiraz Hasnat led a session on international grants and opportunities, providing attendees with invaluable insights into funding their digital journalism projects.
The event concluded with an evaluation session and feedback, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony led by Birgit Lamm, recognizing the dedication and enthusiasm of all participants.
