PNCU and Freedom Gate Prosperity Sign MoU to Advance Education, Skills, and Innovation in Pakistan
In a landmark step towards strengthening national capacity for education and innovation, the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO (PNCU) and Freedom Gate Prosperity (FGP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 4, 2026, at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Islamabad.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Aftab Muhammad Khan, Secretary General of PNCU, and Mr. Muhammad Anwar, Chief Executive Officer of FGP, in the presence of senior officials and civil society leaders. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Raja Imran ul Haq from PNCU, as well as Ms. Sabrina Shahzad Durrani and Dr. Shahbaz Tariq from Freedom Gate Prosperity.
A Shared Vision for Pakistan's Future
This collaboration brings together PNCU's global mandate under UNESCO and FGP's grassroots commitment to community empowerment. Together, they aim to drive transformative change across five key areas:
- Education for Sustainable Development — Designing joint programs that promote quality education, critical thinking, and sustainability literacy aligned with UNESCO frameworks
- Skills Development & Youth Engagement — Equipping young Pakistanis with practical skills through vocational training, internships, and entrepreneurship support
- Innovation & Digital Citizenship — Promoting the ethical use of emerging technologies, digital literacy, and AI-driven development solutions
- Policy Research & Advocacy — Producing evidence-based research to inform education policy and governance reforms at national and sub-national levels
- Cultural Preservation & Global Dialogue — Advancing intercultural understanding, heritage protection, and global engagement through UNESCO platforms
Building on Strong Foundations
This partnership is rooted in the shared belief that meaningful progress requires institutional collaboration, civic engagement, and inclusive governance. PNCU, operating under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, serves as Pakistan's primary liaison with UNESCO — facilitating programs in education, science, culture, and communication. Freedom Gate Prosperity, a Section-42 non-profit registered with SECP, has been working since 2006 on civic empowerment, climate resilience, digital transformation, and education reform.
The MoU establishes a structured framework for joint initiatives, resource sharing, and knowledge exchange. Both organizations will co-develop training modules, host awareness campaigns, and collaborate on research initiatives to address Pakistan's evolving development challenges.
A Call to Action
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Muhammad Anwar emphasized that this partnership reflects FGP's commitment to building bridges between government institutions and civil society:
"Education and innovation are the cornerstones of national progress. By partnering with PNCU, we are creating pathways for young Pakistanis to become informed, skilled, and active contributors to the country's growth. This MoU is not just an agreement — it is a shared commitment to Pakistan's future."
— Muhammad Anwar, CEO, Freedom Gate Prosperity
Mr. Aftab Muhammad Khan also highlighted the importance of civil society partnerships in expanding UNESCO's reach at the grassroots level, stating that FGP's track record in community engagement makes them an ideal partner for advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
